S. J. Soter, MD, Ph. D. is a licensed psychologist. He received his medical training at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Lucia and his Ph.D. at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. He received his Analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago, where he served three years as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He has a private practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Melbourne, Florida. He has taught psychoanalysis in Fort Lauderdale and at the Jung Institutes in both Chicago and Zurich. His thesis was a look into the imaginal communication between the analysand and the analyst. He also has interests in psychopharmacology and its interface with psychoanalysis along with the use of dreams in the analytic process.
Dr. Soter's practice focus is a dual-approach system, combining the use of medications and psychotherapy to alleviate suffering. In many cases, both are needed to help the patient arrive at a solution to the issues that cause distress.
